About Us
My brother and sister-in-law have two big passions… flying and golfing. And, I’m not really sure they could tell you which is their favorite. That’s because they have been known to fly to Scotland and several European locations to play golf, and to various courses state-side as well.
My husband and I are not golfers (yet)… we’re too busy remodeling our home and posting to our blogs. But it surely is worth considering…
Golfing is a terrific activity for exercising your body. Even if the course rules mandate using a golf cart, you will still be stretching, twisting, and bending over as you play. Of course, if your golf course allows you to walk the course, take advantage of. We all know how good walking is for us… and you couldn’t ask for lovelier surroundings than a well-kept golf course.
Don’t be fooled… golfing is great exercise for your mind, too. You’re constantly learning which club to use for specific situations; calculating distances; trying to remember which rules apply; keeping score at each hole and then adding everything up at the end of the game; and figuring out your handicap. But probably the biggest mind exercises are… not loosing your temper, and being patient with yourself and other golfers!
But then, that holds true for everything in life, doesn’t it?
Anyway, golfing is something that’s been in my family for probably 50 years. My Mom and Dad were serious weekend golfers, one of my brothers was on his school’s golf team (and still has an effortless, long, accurate drive)… and his wife is even more serious than he is. And I even took lessons right out of high school. Unfortunately, we were transferred before I could finish… so I learned everything except driving.
So, don’t be surprised if I start blogging about taking lessons later this year… but we have to get the *&$#@%@)(+&%#! remodeling done first. Oops, see what I mean about temper! (sigh)
